RS Receipts — Privacy Policy

Effective 23 August 2026 · Last updated 23 August 2026

The short version. RS Receipts has no accounts and no servers. Your reports, receipts and photos are stored only on your own phone. We — Rocket Science Innovation, LLC — never receive them, and there is no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind in the app. If you choose to back up to Google Drive, the backup goes to your Google Drive and we never see it.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the RS Receipts Android application (package cc.rocketscience.receipts), published by Rocket Science Innovation, LLC of Denver, Colorado, USA ("we", "us"). It does not cover any other software or website.

2. Information we collect

We collect nothing. We operate no server, no database and no account system for this app. There is no sign-up, and the app does not transmit your receipts, photographs, amounts, descriptions or usage information to us or to any third party of our choosing.

Specifically, the app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising identifier, no third-party trackers and no telemetry.

3. Information stored on your device

Everything you enter or capture is written to the app's private storage area on your phone, which other applications cannot read:

Uninstalling the app deletes all of it from your device.

4. Device permissions and why they are used

PermissionWhy
CAMERA To photograph a receipt when you choose "Take a photo". Images are written to the app's private storage. Nothing is streamed or uploaded.
INTERNET Used only for optional Google Drive backup and restore. If you never use Drive, the app makes no network connections.

The app deliberately does not request access to your photo library. When you choose "Choose from photos", it uses the Android system photo picker, which returns only the specific images you select — the app cannot browse or read anything else. The app requests no location, contacts, microphone or storage permissions.

5. Optional Google Drive backup

Backing up to Google Drive is entirely optional and off until you use it.

What access the app requests

The app requests only the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope. This scope grants access solely to files the app itself creates. The app cannot see, read, list or modify any other file in your Google Drive, and it does not request any broader Drive access.

What is uploaded, and to where

When you tap "Back up to Drive", the app builds a single ZIP archive containing your reports, receipts and images, and uploads it to a folder named "RS Receipts Backups" in your own Google Drive. The archive is transmitted directly from your device to Google over an encrypted connection. It does not pass through, and is not stored on, any server operated by us. We have no ability to access it.

Authentication

Sign-in and authorization are handled by Google Play Services on your device. The app receives a short-lived access token which it holds in memory only for the duration of the operation. We do not receive, store or transmit your Google password, and we hold no credentials of yours.

Limited Use disclosure. RS Receipts' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide and improve the backup and restore features you have explicitly requested. It is never sold, never transferred to third parties except as needed to provide those features, never used for advertising, and never read by humans except with your explicit permission, for security purposes, or as required by law.

6. Exporting and sharing, at your direction

The app can generate a PDF report or a ZIP archive of a report, and can write a backup file to a location you choose. In every case this happens only when you ask for it, and the destination is chosen by you through the standard Android share sheet or file picker. Once you send a file to another app or service, that file is governed by the privacy policy of whatever you sent it to, not by this one.

7. Third parties

The only third party involved is Google, and only if you use Drive backup or the system photo picker. In those cases Google's own privacy policy applies to their handling of your data. We have no data-sharing arrangements with anyone, we sell no data, and we run no advertising.

8. Retention and deletion

You can also revoke the app's Google Drive access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

9. Security

Receipt data and images are held in the app's private storage, which the Android operating system isolates from other applications. Communication with Google's APIs uses HTTPS. Because your data stays on your device, its security also depends on your device: a screen lock and current system updates are the most effective protections available to you.

10. Children

RS Receipts is a business expense tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because we do not collect information at all.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published at this address with an updated date above. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect material changes unless the app itself gains a feature that handles data differently.
